The Podkomorské lesy Nature Park

The Podkomorské lesy Nature Park surrounds the reservoir on both sides. Up to two hundred year old beeches, oaks and lindens grow on an area of 2.200 hectares. For example, you can find the Jelení žlíbek reserve with 120 and 200 year old primeval beech forests, which have been protected since 1979. The extensive nature park is mainly represented by deciduous forests with a deverse flora and fauna. In the forests you will find the Veveří State Castle, one of the largest castle complexes in the Czech Republic. You can go through the valley of the Rakovec stream, the so-called Kočičí žleb, lined with stately beeches, or discover the part of the nature park between Veverská Bítýška and Jinačovice with the pilgrimage site of Tři kříže, the Břenčák Nature Reserve ort the Na skalách Natural Monument.

Nature park Baba

About a kilometer from the ATLANTIS Hotel towards Kníničky, the blue hiking trail leads around the natural monument Mniší hora. This is the first protected area in Brno, which was declared in 1950 to protect its rich flora nad fauna. You can also get around it to the Baba Nature Park, the so-called Foothills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Baba Park, with its highest peak, Velká Baba, at an altitude of 446 m, offers a ridge route with beautiful views, the „Medlánky“ nature trail, as well as the Jinačovice golf course and the Zoo.

Holedná Game Reserve

This absolutely exceptional place covers almost 330 hectares with the highest peak, Holedná, at an altitude of 391 meters. Not far from the peak, there is an observation tower that has been open since 2020. In the forest park, you can meet wild fallow deer and mouflons. The area with the nature trail has paved paths, making it an ideal place for a walk with a stroller or a fitness run.

ZOO

The Brno ZOO is less than 2 kilometers from the ATLANTIS Hotel. The zoo keeps almost 400 species of animals, which you can admire in modern exhibitions in the beautiful surroundings of Mniší hora. Since 2000, it has become a full member of the exklusive WorldVYŠ Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). It boasts a European uniqueness – it has already sent 5 polar bear cubs into the world. In 2012, it was the first to successfully raise a young jaguarundi. It offers many entertaining and educational programs.
